Kayak the Broken Group Islands

5 days  ·  Ucluelet, BC return  ·  Easy

Experience the thrill of sea kayaking in the sheltered west coast waters of the Broken Group Islands on this fully guided tour. Enjoy a picnic lunch on a secluded beach, paddle with harbour seals while eagles soar above. Camp in complete luxury.

Tour Summary

Pacific Rim National Park is a thin strip of land along the southwestern coast of Vancouver Island. Its magnificent islands, beaches and dramatic seascapes divide into three geographically distinct park units: Long Beach (the most accessible), Broken Group Islands (about 100 islands in Barkley Sound), and the challenging 72 kilometer West Coast Trail.

On the afternoon of "Day 0" meet at our office in Ucluelet to meet our guides, the rest of the group and collect your dry bags. The next morning you are down at our wharf to catch our water taxi into the hear of the Broken Group Islands.  These islands are a maze of pocket beaches, exposed reefs, lagoons, densely forested islands and bare, windswept rocks. Although the outer islands are exposed to the force of the Pacific Ocean, the inner ones are ideal for kayaking and swimming. During the next five days, and in the company of a certified guide, we kayak through these islands, exploring the hundreds of tidal pools and beaches that make this area so unique. Marine life ranges from tiny plankton to massive Pacific gray whales.

Our Tours include all the gear you will need for this unique adventure, locally handmade on Quadra Island; Nimbus kayaks, as well as Werner paddles , a spacious MSR Mutha Hubba tent, Exped sleeping mat and a Helinox cot and beach chair to give you top of the line comfort while in camp and on the water.
