Tour Summary

Long before the road system, the Yukon River was the highway for transportation and settlement. At its peak as a mode of transportation in 1898, over 30,000 people and 7,000 boats set off from the rugged shores of Whitehorse to transverse the waters of the Yukon River enroute to the Klondike Goldfields. Travel with us as we journey along the historic "Thirty Mile," from Lake Laberge to Little Salmon Village. Here you'll encounter a microcosm of the Yukon River as a whole and learn what makes this section of the Yukon so unique that it was designated as a Canadian Heritage River in 1991. This northern expedition begins with a floatplane ride from the city of Whitehorse to an abandoned village at the north end of the Lake Laberge known for its BBQs in the summer and cremations in the winter! From here our guides help you to  stock your canoe and grab your paddle to begin your 4 day journey along this mighty River.
